Today the educational world is adopting research as a core part of its curriculum. Research would be something that would enhance the conceptual knowledge of a faculty as well as a student by giving them a practical connect that directly contributes towards the growth of the society. So, bringing research into teaching-learning methods has become the need of an hour. Having an in-depth analysis of the things can not only make learning fruitful but also enrich the knowledge in one’s area of interest. Research is something that needs to be searched again and again. It’s a never ending process, as knowledge has no limit.
The educational accreditation board NAAC, has laid down the 7 criteria out of which one is research. This way research is gaining more and more importance as it is leading the educational world to a real world of learning, where the student or a faculty can search for more and more hidden facts and add on to the new knowledge creation for the coming generations to work on. According to the NAAC, institutes need to integrate education and research in various disciplines to sustain as centres of academic excellence. Three units of Ashoka Education Foundation have accredited by NAAC. To comply with NAAC peer team recommendations from the first cycle in regards to student’s research, AEF-HE initiated a constructive step towards designing “STUDENT RESEARCH PROJECT SCHEME (SRPS)”. Through this initiative, students would be encouraged and promoted to take a lead for innovative research project. This step will not only help to develop research culture among the students but will also be surely known as a distinct feature of the ACBCS institute which come under the umbrella of AEF-HE.
Research creates new knowledge, insights, and imparts excitement, vibrancy, and dynamism in educational process. Research culture and academic integrity need to be promoted amongst students. As a part of the quality mandate, Ashoka Education Foundation is proposing this scheme to instill research culture amongst the students under the guidance of faculties.
SRPS will focus on solution-driven research by addressing the needs of local/ regional communities and possibly the national as well as international priorities.
